DIRECTORS and HEROES

Camps are led by professional educators, college coaches and Green Bay Packers Heroes. Our coaches develop athletic skill, build confidence and provide positive reinforcement.  Recruited on a local, state and national level, these outstanding educators are the foundation of our day-to-day operations and the key to our program quality.

Joel Beard -  Minnesota State University

Fourth Year with Packers Camps, First Year as Director.

Background:  Assistant Coach - 7 years experience.  Joel spent two seasons as head football coach at Southwestern High School in Hazel Green, WI and helped the club set game records for yards passing and individual total offense. He served as wide receivers coach at UW-Stout in 2002 and later spent more time as an offensive coordinator and wide receivers coach on the high school level.  He is entering his second season as wide receivers coach for Minnesota State Univ. - Moorhead.  Joel was a two-sport letterman at University of Wisconsin-Platteville.

Advice: "There are two things about playing football. First, is it truly teaches you about life; you will have ups and downs, it is the ultimate team sport, and it provides opportunities to respond to adversity.  Second, having fun is required"

Doug Sarver - St. Francis High School
First Year with Packers Camps, First Year as Director.

Head Coach - 30 years experience.  Within his 30 years coaching experience,  Doug has been the Head Coach at St. Francis High School for the past 20 years.  Doug also serves as the director of St. Francis Youth Football.  He has received several honors, such as "C.N.I. Newspapers Area Football Coach of Year," Wisconsin State All-Star Game Coach and Director of WFCA High School All Start Game.  He was recently awarded the WFCA 30 year service award for dedication to football.

Advice: "To succeed on the field you must first be successful in the classroom; we should always remember the importance of our academics not just relating to athletics but to our future life experiences."
Keith Vanden Heuvel - Kaukauna High School

Sixth Year with Packers Camps, Fifth Year as Director.

Director, Head Coach - Green Bay Packers Youth Football Camps.  Keith is largely responsible for establishing the reputation and quality of Green Bay Packers Youth Football Camps throughout Wisconsin.  He has directed the program for the last years and established an umatched abiility to challenge experienced players, welcome newcomers and make it a fun experience of attending.  Prior to his work with the Packers, Keith assisted Lawrence University Football and Kaukauna High School Football.

Advice: "Attitude and effort are more important than ability. Don't believe anyone who tells you that you can't play because you're too small or too slow or too young. The best football players are the ones with the most desire."
