Baseball Under 50 Degrees? Forgetaboutit!

A player warming up in the wintery conditions

Here are four reasons I don’t want to play baseball when the temperature dips below 50 degrees.

1.)    I’m a Snowman – standing completely still….by myself….in a field….that is cold.

2.)    It’s Not Jamming – If I hit one off the handle, I simply want to cry.

3.)    Brain Freeze – Baseball is a mental game with the count, base runners and outs.  When it’s 42 degrees and a pop up comes to me, I catch it and head straight to the dug out.

4.)    No Home Runs – Cold weather helps pitchers.  Pitches are always moving.   The cold weather helps their curve and velocity.  It shortens the distance of hit balls.

Now if it was a snow ball fight, that’s a different story.
