Are Chicago Sports Cursed?

Following up the season-ending injuries of two of Chicago’s biggest names in sports, fans are beginning to wonder whether the city has a cursed reputation. Let’s look back on the season.

The Cubs outlook began optimistically as Jay Cutler was in the process of becoming quarterback and the offense and defense were playing well. Until Cutler, indispensible to the team, fell victim to a hand injury and was out for the season.

Talk about bad karma. Next up, the Chicago Bulls’ star Derrick Rose went down at the end of Game 1 against Philadelphia in what could be described as one of the worst injuries to hit Chicago sports fans. Rose fell to the floor with a knee injury, which Michael Wilbon of ESPN Chicago points out, “…seems to be a staple of most great Chicago athletes.”

Other notable curses? The Cubs are famously cursed, not having qualified for the World Series since 1945, or winning for that matter, since 1908. All of this misfortune may leave you wondering what has Chicago done to deserve this?
